The economics

Pest control makes its money on quarterly plans

HomeAdvisor puts a one-time pest treatment at $300 to $550 and a quarterly plan at $100 to $300 per visit. Four visits a year makes a customer on a quarterly plan worth roughly $400 to $1,200 a year, for as long as they stay on the plan.

That’s why the number to watch is how many initial treatments turn into recurring plans. Public cost-per-lead benchmarks don’t break out pest control, so your own tracking is the benchmark.

The calendar

The pest control marketing calendar

  1. Jan to Feb

    Build before spring

Get pest pages, profile updates and ads ready before the first warm stretch. Rodent work and plan renewals carry the slow months.

  2. Mar to May

    Ants and termites wake up

Ant calls and termite swarms drive urgent searches in many regions. Have ads and pages live before they start.

  3. Jun to Aug

    Peak season

Mosquitoes, wasps and roaches fill the calendar. Follow up every initial treatment with an offer for the quarterly plan.

  4. Sep to Dec

    Rodents move in

Mice and rats look for warm spaces as nights cool. Fall exclusion work and plan renewals set up next year.
